Academic Makerspaces Summit

IIT-Gandhinagar will host the Indian Academic Makerspaces Summit (IAMS) 2025, a three-day event that will feature a 24-hour Make-a-Thon, keynote sessions, panel discussions, an Open House for innovators and makers and a Maker Fair and Industry Showcase. The summit invites students to participate in the Make-a-Thon and Maker Fair.

BITS Law School, Mumbai, invites applications for its five-year integrated LB.A. LL.B. (Hons.) and B.B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) with specialisations in Technology and Media Law; Corporate and Financial Law; Entertainment and Sports Law, and Alternate Dispute Resolution and Mediation commencing in 2026.

Eligibility: Minimum 45% in Class 12, valid score in CLAT, AILET, SLAT, MHCET Law, LNAT, or BITSLAT.

IIIT-Hyderabad celebrated its 28th Foundation Day with Jitender, DGP Telangana, as the chief guest, and Shikha Goel, Director of Telangana Cyber Security Bureau (TGCSB), as the Guest of Honour. The institute’s new Cyber MANTHAN Centre and TGCSB’s Vyuha Labs, a Cyber Innovation Lab, were inaugurated.

IIM-Kashipur organised Samanvaya 2025, its HR Conclave, on the theme The New Social Contract: Balancing Employee Freedom and Organisational Discipline. upGrad released its latest Transnational Education (TNE) Report 2024-25, mapping how Indian students are radically reshaping global education choices. Key findings are that applications to U.S. universities dropped by 13% YoY, while European destinations like Germany and the UAE are becoming popular. STEM and Management programmes are the preferred programmes.

Acumen, the Indian partner of the University of Tokyo for the Study in Japan from South Asia initiative, is launching a new online and personal student service for those interested in studying in Japan. Navi Japan will be available for free download on Android and iOS from September 8.

BITS Pilani has launched BITS CARES (Comprehensive Action for Resilience, Empathy, and Support), a wide-ranging initiative designed to enhance student welfare across its Pilani, Goa, and Hyderabad campuses. Developed by the Student Welfare Division (SWD), BITS CARES encompasses improvements in campus safety, mental health services, hostel infrastructure, physical wellness programmes, and academic support.

IIIT-Delhi organised ESYA 2025, its two-day annual technical festival on the theme Techmorphosis: The Transformative Power of Technology. The line-up of events included TechnoKick: RoboSoccer, HackIIIT hackathon, and thought-leadership sessions. Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, Union Minister of Communications and Minister of Development of North Eastern Region, Government of India, was the chief guest.

Awards

Himaneesh Sompalle, a Class 10 student at Stonehill International School, Bengaluru, won the bronze medal at the International Olympiad in Artificial Intelligence (IOAI) 2025, held in Beijing, China.

Sunbeam School, Lahartara, Varanasi, won the finale of the eighth edition of PsychED, organised by the Department of Mental Health and Behavioural Sciences, Fortis Healthcare.

Roshni Agarwal, a final-year Computer Science student at Ashoka University, was declared winner of the inaugural ESET Women in Cybersecurity Scholarship in India.

Team Pixie Chicks from Vivekananda Institute of Professional Studies (VIPS), Pitampura, New Delhi, came first in SheBuilds 2025, a pan-India, women-only hackathon hosted by VLIV and powered by HackCulture and supported by GitHub.

Avinash Sharma and Mashale Prajyot Umakant from IIM-Lucknow won the Battle of Super Scholars (BOSS), hosted by WinZo in collaboration with IIM Ahmedabad, IIM Bangalore, IIM Calcutta, IIM Lucknow, and Faculty of Management Studies (FMS) Delhi. Riya Chaudhary from IIM Bangalore was the Foreign Exchange Winner.

Inductions and convocations

RV University held its third convocation where 259 students from six schools received their degrees. Kailash Satyarthi, Nobel Peace Laureate, delivered the convocation address. The university also welcomed over 750 students into its BTech, PG, and Allied and Healthcare programmes, as part of its fourth annual Navodaya 2025 celebrations. Ajit Isaac, Founder and Chairman of Quess Corp, was the chief guest.

Tetr College of Business held an orientation ceremony for its second batch of UG students in Dubai for over 200 students from across 50 countries. Dignitaries included Edward Rogers, ex-Chief Knowledge Officer, NASA; Sven Herzing, CTO, Talabat; Jeff Stratchan, AVP, Dubai Economy and Tourism; and Tania Mykhaulik, VP, Bayzat, among others.

CMR University, in collaboration with Institute of Product Leadership, the U.S., welcomed the new cohort for the MBA Technology Management programme. Akash Mohan, Senior Director at VISA, and Mandar Deshpande, CTO at Concertiv, spoke at the event.

Partnerships

BIT Mesra signed an MoU with Madan Mohan Mohanka, chairman of Tega Industries, to establish the Madan Mohan Mohanka Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship at its Ranchi campus. The centre will be a hub for start-up incubation, research, innovation and entrepreneurial ventures.

Indian Maritime University signed an MoU with Swan Defence and Heavy Industries Limited to accelerate maritime education, research, and skill development.

IIT-Roorkee signed an MoU with CADFEM India to set up Digital Twin Simulation Labs and strengthen India’s digital engineering education and research.

The AICTE signed an MoU Blue Ocean Corporation to integrate its Foundations of Supply Chain Management course, accredited by the Association for Supply Chain Management, the U.S., into the list of AICTE-approved programmes for Indian universities.

The National Film Development Corporation, under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, signed an MOU with Aptech Limited, to launch an eight-month residential training programme in 3D Animation and VFX to empower talent from the Northeast region.

UPL University of Sustainable Technology signed an MoU with the Oxford India Centre for Sustainable Development, the University of Oxford, for knowledge exchange in sustainable food systems and climate change.

Monash University, Australia, signed an MoU with Mahindra University, Hyderabad, to launch programmes in Mechanical, Civil and Electrical Engineering.

Ambuja Foundation, in collaboration with Voltas, has launched a health and education development initiative to create a transformative impact on rural education by improving educational infrastructure and fostering a conducive learning environment in Waghodia (Vadodara) and Sanand (Ahmedabad).

Celonis, in partnership with IIIT-Allahabad, has launched the Celonis-IIITA Research Centre to focus on high-impact areas such as Object-Centric Process Mining, AI- driven business optimisation, and real-world commercial applications and nurture new talent through workshops, capstone projects, and hands-on learning.

The Sanjay Ghodawat International School (SGIS) Pune has partnered with White Canvas India to launch the Young CEO Programme, an initiative that aims to nurture entrepreneurial thinking and future-ready skills among students from Classes 6 to 12.

Masters’ Union has partnered with wealth management and trading platform Upstox to improve financial literacy and hands-on market learning among students. Upstox will play an active role in curriculum design and its internal experts will deliver lectures, case studies, and market walkthroughs as part of a practical and regulated learning experience.

KL Deemed-to-be University has partnered with Juniper Networks to launch the Juniper AI-Driven Campus Center of Excellence (CoE) in its campus to introduce students to AI-driven network management systems that learn, predict, and self-heal.

IISc Bengaluru and L&T Semiconductor Technologies (LTSCT) have signed an MoU to collaborate on the development of a national 2D Innovation Hub to advance research and translation in 2D material-based semiconductors and quantum technologies and focus on next-generation semiconductor innovation, beyond-silicon-chip technologies, placing India at the forefront of global semiconductor R&D.

Max Healthcare and the BAPIO Training Academy (BTA), the U.K., have signed a strategic training agreement to advance medical education and capacity building in India, with a focus on radiology. The partnership will focus on developing and implementing comprehensive capacity-building programmes designed to upskill and reskill medical professionals, including training students for the Fellowship of the Royal College of Radiology examination.
