Nikola, the electric-vehicle maker, has announced the appointment of Mary Chan as its Chief Operating Officer (COO). This move marks the second top executive from the firm behind the special-purpose acquisition company that took Nikola public in 2020.
Chan’s role as COO will begin on October 9th, where she will take charge of the company’s engineering, program, product, supply chain, and manufacturing teams.
This announcement follows the recent appointment of Steve Girsky as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) by Nikola. Girsky, who previously served as Nikola’s chairman, took over from Michael Lohscheller who stepped down due to personal reasons related to his family’s health.
Both Girsky and Chan hold managing partner positions at VectoIQ, an advisory firm that merged with Nikola through its SPAC. Additionally, both executives have experience working at General Motors in the past.
During her time at GM, Chan served as the President of the Global Connected Consumer Group. She played a crucial role in developing and expanding the company’s connected infotainment products and OnStar broadband services.
