European stocks closed mostly flat on Wednesday, with the Stoxx Europe 600 index finishing at 485.67.
Market Performances
The French CAC 40 index dropped 0.27% to 7,656.75, the German DAX weakened 0.40% to 16,903.76, and the FTSE 100 index declined 0.47% to 7,630.57.
Top Performers
Among the Stoxx Europe 600 constituents, Beijer Ref AB Series B saw the largest increase as shares surged 11.9%.
TAG Immobilien AG and SEB S.A. gained 6.3% and 6.2% respectively.
Sartorius Stedim Biotech S.A., a health care/life sciences company, and Tele2 AB Series B, a telephone systems firm, rounded out the top five performers with their stocks adding 5.2% and 5.0% respectively.
Poor Performers
H&M Hennes & Mauritz AB Series B saw the largest decrease among Stoxx Europe 600 constituents as shares tumbled 12.4% on Wednesday.
Atos SE, a business/consumer services firm, and ams-OSRAM AG, a technology company, declined 9.9% and 4.9% respectively.
Corbion N.V., a company, and HelloFresh SE, a retail business, rounded out the top five poor performers with their stocks weakening 4.7% and 4.0% respectively.
Currency and Commodity Markets
The pound was up 0.24% against the dollar, and the euro was up 0.09%.
Brent crude dropped 2.29% to $80.61.
Bond Yields
The yield on the 10-year gilt declined 10.29 basis points to 3.801%, and the yield on the German 10-year bund fell 9.980 basis points to 2.17%.
