European Stocks Finish Lower

European stocks ended the day in negative territory on Monday. The Stoxx Europe 600 index dropped by 0.26% to close at 443.79.

Key Indices Performance

  • The German DAX declined by 0.67% to 15,128.11.
  • The French CAC 40 index dropped by 0.55% to 7,021.40.
  • The FTSE 100 index remained flat at 7,492.21.

Top Declining Stocks

Among the constituents of the Stoxx Europe 600, health care/life sciences company Idorsia Ltd. saw the largest drop on Monday, with its shares plummeting by 17.1%. Other notable decliners included:

  • Croda International PLC: -7.3%
  • Wizz Air Holdings PLC: -6.2%
  • International Consolidated Airlines Group S.A.: -6.1%
  • THG PLC: -6.1%

Top Gaining Stocks

On the other hand, automotive company Rheinmetall AG saw the largest increase among the Stoxx Europe 600 constituents, with shares rising by 7.1% on Monday. Other notable gainers included:

  • ORLEN S.A.: +6.4%
  • Aker BP ASA: +6.2%
  • Orpea S.A.: +5.8%
  • Equinor ASA: +5.6%

Currency and Commodity Markets

The pound (GBPUSD) weakened by 0.29% against the dollar, while the euro (EURUSD) experienced a decline of 0.45%. Brent crude (UK:BRN00) witnessed a significant increase of 3.90% to reach $87.88.

Yields Decline

The yield on the 10-year gilt (BX:TMBMKGB-10Y) decreased by 9.43 basis points to 4.483%, and the yield on the German 10-year bund (BX:TMBMKDE-10Y) fell by 11.390 basis points to 2.77%.
